Terms of Service
Last updated: 16 June 2026
Welcome to Readlang, a service provided by Readlang SL ("Readlang", "we", "our", or "us"), a company registered in Spain.
Please read these Terms of Service ("Terms") carefully before using the Readlang website and apps (the "Service"). Your access to and use of the Service is conditioned on your acceptance of and compliance with these Terms. These Terms apply to everyone who accesses or uses the Service. If you do not agree to these Terms, please do not use the Service.
1. Eligibility
You must be at least 14 years old to create an account and use the Service. If you are under the age of majority where you live, you may only use the Service with the involvement and consent of a parent or guardian. By using the Service you confirm that you meet these requirements.
2. Your Account
To use most features you need to create an account. You are responsible for keeping your login details secure and for all activity that happens under your account. Please provide an email address that is accurate and that you can access, as we use it to send you important account and billing information. Let us know promptly if you believe your account has been used without your permission.
3. Your Content
The Service lets you upload, link to, create, store, and study text and other material ("Content") — for example, articles you import or texts you paste in to read. You keep all ownership of your Content. We do not claim ownership of it.
By adding Content to the Service, you grant us a limited, non-exclusive licence to store, copy, process, translate, generate audio from, and display that Content back to you, and to use third-party providers to do so, solely for the purpose of operating and improving the Service for you. This licence ends when you delete the Content or your account, except for copies we are required to keep by law or that remain in routine backups for a limited time.
You are responsible for your Content, including its legality and your right to use it. You represent that you own your Content or otherwise have the right to use it and to grant us the licence above, and that it does not infringe anyone else's rights. We may remove Content or suspend accounts that we reasonably believe infringe copyright or otherwise breach these Terms.
4. Acceptable Use
You agree not to misuse the Service, including by attempting to disrupt or gain unauthorised access to it, using it to break the law or infringe others' rights, or using automated means to extract data or circumvent usage limits. We may apply reasonable usage limits to keep the Service running well for everyone.
5. Privacy
Our Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and share your personal data. By using the Service, you agree to our handling of your data as described there.
6. Subscriptions and Billing
Readlang offers free access with daily limits, as well as paid subscriptions that remove or raise those limits. By purchasing a subscription you agree to pay the fees shown to you at checkout.
Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each billing period (monthly or yearly, depending on the plan you choose) using your saved payment method, until you cancel. Payments are processed by our payment provider, Stripe; we do not store your full card details.
We may change subscription prices from time to time. Any price change will only apply to billing periods that begin after the change, and never to a period you have already paid for.
7. Cancellation and Refunds
You can cancel your subscription at any time from your account settings. When you cancel, your subscription stops renewing and you keep your paid access until the end of the period you have already paid for. We do not generally provide refunds for partial periods.
If you are a consumer in the EU/EEA, you have a statutory right to withdraw from a purchase within 14 days. Because the Service is digital content supplied immediately, by starting to use your paid subscription during that period you ask us to begin straight away and acknowledge that you may lose the right of withdrawal once the service has been fully provided. Nothing in these Terms limits any rights you have under mandatory consumer law. If you think you have been charged in error, please contact us and we will try to put it right.
8. Emails and Notifications
When you sign up, upgrade, or are billed, we send transactional emails to the address on your account. You can also opt in to optional emails, such as daily practice reminders, and to browser push notifications. You can change these preferences at any time in your account settings, or unsubscribe using the link in any optional email.
9. Our Intellectual Property
The Service itself — including its software, design, and branding — belongs to Readlang SL and its licensors. These Terms do not give you any right to use our name or logo, or to copy or reverse engineer the Service, except as allowed by law.
10. Third-Party Services and Content
The Service relies on third-party providers (for example for translation, text-to-speech, AI features, and payments) and may let you import or link to third-party content. We are not responsible for third-party content, and your use of third-party services may be subject to their own terms.
11. Disclaimers
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, to the fullest extent permitted by law. Readlang is a language-learning aid: translations, definitions, audio, and AI-generated content can be incomplete or wrong, and you should not rely on them as professional, medical, legal, or other authoritative advice. We do not guarantee that the Service will be uninterrupted, secure, or error-free.
12. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Readlang SL will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential losses, or for loss of data or profits, arising from your use of (or inability to use) the Service. Our total liability to you for any claim relating to the Service will not exceed the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim. Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability that cannot be excluded or limited under applicable law, including your mandatory rights as a consumer.
13. Termination
You can stop using the Service and delete your account at any time from your account settings. We may suspend or terminate your access if you materially or repeatedly breach these Terms, if required by law, or if we reasonably need to in order to protect the Service or other users. Where it is reasonable to do so, we will give you notice first. If we terminate your account other than for a breach by you, we will refund any prepaid fees for the unused part of your subscription.
14. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of Spain, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Any disputes will be subject to the courts of Spain, except that if you are a consumer, you may also be entitled to bring proceedings in the courts of your country of residence and to rely on the mandatory consumer-protection rules there.
15. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. If a change is material, we will give at least 30 days' notice before it takes effect, for example by email or a notice on the Service. By continuing to use the Service after the changes take effect, you agree to the updated Terms. If you do not agree, you should stop using the Service.
16. Contact Us
