Readlang.com got me from near zero ability to read Spanish to, I'm guessing, intermediate or higher reading comprehension. I just kept going and going, not stopping, using readlang's interface to look up words and phrases on the fly, trying to make quick associations in my head with interesting words.
Best tool ever regarding language learning. Phenomenal!!! At the same time you can translate words and create cards in the web. Later learn them. Import/export possible. At the website you can also learn with texts or even musicvideos. This replaces basically everything I have used before, no Duocards or LWT necessary anymore.
Wow... this feature is fantastic. I'm studing Greek and that is what I needed without even to knpw it. I've never seen something so useful. That's why I'm going to go pro now: not only in order to be able to use this feature, but also for showing you my appreciation.
I cannot recommend it any more highly. I use this very often for my own French learning and it's really helped me building my vocabulary and it makes the process of learning so much easier because I'm not copying and pasting into Google Translate all the time. So have a go at Readlang.
What I really like about it is that it gives you the context of which you learned this word from so it gives you that whole passage and you just have to fill in the blank and I found that... normally I don't like translating from directly from English to Spanish but in this case because it has the context I find that I automatically just fill in the blank with the right Spanish phrase without even thinking about the English because I'm inferring it from the context.
This website is just really convenient... you can use it on the phone, you can use it anywhere... if you'd like to practice learning languages through reading I would recommend this site.
My final verdict on Readlang is that it is a wonderful and well-designed platform to learn languages and improve your language skills. You can read a lot of native content and the spaced repetition algorithm fascinated me the most as it ensures that you learn the words not just plainly memorize and forget.
It takes just a few minutes to create dozens of flashcards.... It really is worth your time if you're trying to really work on your weaknesses in a language and hit a high level.
Readlang me parece una herramienta buenísima porque además de permitirte leer más cómodamente en inglés (o en cualquier idioma que estés aprendiendo), también te ayudará a descubrir y aprender infinidad de palabras, frases y expresiones gracias a la genial función flashcards. (Readlang seems like a great tool to me because in addition to allowing you to read more comfortably in English (or any language you are learning), it will also help you discover and learn countless words, phrases and expressions thanks to the great flashcards function.)
Readlang is probably my top resource now for learning new languages. Whenever I don't feel like studying properly, I can just read an article in a foreign language and enjoy it, without having to worry about looking up words that I don't understand. It makes reading in a foreign language a much quicker and more enjoyable experience!
I speak 7 languages and I've used most of the language learning tools available so it doesn't happen very often that I discover something new that I'm genuinely impressed by. Readlang is one of those times! It's well designed, has just enough features, and is incredibly effective.
This is one of the most fantastic language learning tools I have ever encountered. [...] Using ReadLang, I can progress quickly through a book I’ve never read, and more importantly, it’s enjoyable. ReadLang allows you to click on any word, and translates it in a non-invasive manner, so you can keep focused on the story. It stores the words you translated in a vocabulary list that can be reviewed later on, and it serves a great set of self-made index cards.
Readlang is one of the best language learning tools I’ve ever used. It is especially good for helping you get past the beginner levels of a language and into the intermediate and advanced stages. No, I don’t have any affiliation with the site, and I don’t have any stock in the company. I just like to give credit to stuff that helps me.
I love ReadLang. I click on anywhere from 1 to 8 words and it translates them. Then, it automatically makes a flashcard for what I missed. I can import articles etc from the web to my ReadLang library, and it will tell me the difficulty rating. I tried reading books when I had first taken a Spanish class several years ago (7?). But, I'm a very fast reader. Stopping to look up words so often was very discouraging. Eventually, I gave up and just focused on getting through Uni. With Immersion and Readlang soooo much frustration has been alleviated!!
I just started trying your web-app on a whim tonight and I'm in love with it. This is exactly what I need--this makes the process I've been using already go way faster. It's especially nice, since virtually every book written in Russian is available online.
Readlang is one to watch! In beta stage with I believe only 4000 users or so at the moment, this is a site for reading and learning multiple languages, with some powerful features including one-click translate for any word within a document and a useful text-to-speech function. Readlang has a lovely community function enabling you to see and rate documents uploaded by other users in the language that you are studying. You can also upload your own documents, and a chrome extension allows you to easily use the site to read foreign-language content you come across on the web.
ReadLang, a cool new way to learn languages... The thing I like about ReadLang most is that it will only translate the part of a page that you want it too. It will leave the rest original. This helps immensly with building your fluency in your second language. It’s also fast and responsive which is a big benifit.
This is a great website! I have tried several other online tools, and this is one of the best! Recently I am frustrated with German learning, and fortunately I found Readlang! I can enjoy extensive reading with Readlong´s help and at the same time review important words without spending time to make flashcards (Anki is great, but very time consuming for one with busy work schedule everyday).
My reading comprehension jumped dramatically since using the web reader two weeks ago. It is truly amazing. I can't recommend it highly enough to my language learning friends.
I use it everyday, i love how easy it is to pick new words i want to learn. I feel like i can finally read a book on a computer screen, something i've never been able to do before! So, thank you for this wonderful program :)
I love being able to upload videos from YouTube and sync the lyrics to them [...] And, the ability to instantly have words that I click on made into flash cards (that can be exported to Anki) is great, too. This site has so much to offer. :)
I'd like to recommend a site you can use to read things online that allows you to translate words and phrases into your own language as you read. The site is called Readlang and I've already used it in a few classes which found the site really useful.
I really like it. The translations in Dutch and Spanish are very good. And the interface is very innovative and very usable. You really did some thinking outside the traditional box. I was so impressed that I made a donation. I appreciate your work. Well done!
I've been using this and it's very cool. On both Android and iPhone you can save a link to the website to your homescreen so it acts kind of like an app, and it formats nicely for mobile.
It works pretty much flawlessly (in my short time using it) with every kind of website/article I plug into it. Feedback and help works well too, makes you feel like you are genuinely part of improving the website.
This week I also discovered Readlang which is a really useful site for improving vocabulary/reading. It's similar to Lingq, check it out if you get a chance.
Wow. And wow. This is wonderful. Sure, it'll be terrific to get the sidebar dictionary and integration into the Chrome extension--but in the meantime, many props! From a usability perspective, it's genius--I no longer have to carefully copy and paste (in the case of a Wikipedia article, making sure to avoid pictures and captions), and can see text as originally formatted.
The site is still beta but has a nice clean design and feels very smooth... All in all it seems like a fairly effortless way to pick up some more vocabulary.
It is difficult to give something that is so young a five star rating, but this is already one of the best sites (along with stuff like Anki, Memrise, "X"Pod, Duolingo, LingQ, etc.) around for this and it is only getting better.
